Samsung, the new generation mobile phones company has come up with another great phone to its credit. It is called the Samsung Wave smartphone. The appearance of this 118 g phone is enticing and it scores above other phones with its AMOLED display screen. The smartphone is first of its kind as it based on the mobile operating system Bada. The phone is available in Ebony Gray colour.
Features and Specifications of Samsung Wave
The phone is equipped with GSM 850/900/1800/1900 2G network and HSDPA 900/2100 3G network with 7.2 mbps and HSUPA 3G network with 2 mbps speed. This 118 x 56 x 10.9 mm phone is 480 x 800 pixels 3.3 inch Super AMOLED touchscreen with 16 million colours. It has some great features like- smart unlock feature, handwriting recognition, proximity sensor with auto turn off, TouchWiz UI 3.0, multi touch input based method, UI auto rotate having accelerometer sensor and the scratch resistant surface making it tough on the outside.
Samsung Wave has 390 MB available storage with a total of 1.5 GB system storage. The expandable micro SD memory slot gives a good external storage capacity of 32 GB. The GPRS is Class 10 with 4+1/3+2 clots and a speed of 32 to 48 kbps. The EDGE is Class 10 giving out 236.8 kbps speed. The WLAN is 802.11 b/g/n and v3.0 Bluetooth with A2DP. A micro USB v2.0 port has been given in the phone.
The new Samsung Wave phone also has a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and LED flash making the snaps’ clarity and sharpness quite impressive. The video is shot by the phone’s camera at 30 frames per second. SMS, MMS, Email, Palringo IM and Push Emailing facilities are given by the phone. The phone is A-GPS supported. The other features of the phone include image stabilisation, geo tagging, touch focus, smile and blink detection, image editor and voice memo. The central processing unit of the mobile phone is ARM Cortex A8 1 GHz.
Performance of Samsung Wave
The Li-Ion 1500 mAh battery gives up to 7 hours (3G)/15.50 hours (2G) of talk time. Music player works for a good 35 hours. The standby time claimed by the company is up to 650 hours (2G)/ 570 hours (3G). The music player supports Mp3, wav, wma, eAAC formats. The 3.5mm audio jack is based on Digital Natural Sound Engine technology.
The sound clarity of Samsung wave smartphone is seen to be great. The images viewed on its display are of excellent quality, very vivid and the colours bold. The 3G connectivity of the phone has not fared well as per users’ feedbacks. The video player supports MP4, H.263, H.264, WMV, Xvid, DivX formats and fares well.

The first among the Bada OS based mobile phones; Wave is a good attempt by Samsung.
