Samsung Star S5233 - Thumbs up for this 3.2 mega pixel phone !

22. June 2010 by TechFren Staff 0 Comments

Samsung Star S5233 has been one of the most successful bar phones by Samsung. It generated very positive responses from the people on its launch as it was one of the few touch-screen phones in the market with not a high price tag.

Features and other specifications

Samsung Star S5233 review

Samsung Star S 5233 sports a 3.2 mega pixel camera with good picture quality. Due to lack of flash, photographs do not come out to be of good quality if the lighting conditions are poor. Photos clicked by the mobile can be viewed in 240x400 pixels display colour TFT screen with 26200 colours. The picture clarity is good and the screen is big enough to give a good view of the photographs and the videos stored in the mobile.

The phone weighs 92 grams and its size is 104 x 53 x 11.9mm. The full touch screen phone has a good 50 MB internal memory and expandable up to 8 GB micro SD card slot. The phone is Java MIDP 2.0 enabled with WAP 2.0. The facility of Emailing (POP3/SMTP/IMAP4) through phone is available like any other multimedia set.

The network is supported by GSM/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900. The video formats supported by the handset are: MPEG4, H.263, H.264 and WMV. The GPRS is Class 12 with 4+1/3+2/2+3/1+4 slots. The phone has also got Stereo FM Radio along with a Music Player which does a good job.

The sound quality produced by the phone is very good. The EDGE too is Class 12. The Bluetooth is v2.1 with A2DP. The operating system installed in the phone functions satisfactorily. Quicklinks to renowned websites like Facebook, Frienster, Flickr, Picasa etc. have been preinstalled for the convenience of the users.

Performance

The screen is not very friendly as a little touch is never enough to open an application. The snaps can easily be jittery if enough care is not taken. Close-ups are also seen to be not satisfactory enough. There are a few new modes included in the camera settings called the smile detection and the panorama mode. Their performance too is not smooth.

Samsung Star S5233 comes with 1000 mAh battery giving a good battery backup of 13 hours as claimed by the company with a standby time of up to 600 hours. The phone performs poorly when it comes to 3G connectivity. It takes ages for networking sites to work.

Uploading speed is extremely slow. So if you are an ardent networking site follower, you might avoid buying this phone. The performance of the touch screen is satisfactory although not the best.

The Verdict!

Samsung Star S5233 has got a good response from the users and has proved to be one of the best phones offered by Samsung. With its great battery backup and attractive features, the phone takes away lot of adulation. Way to go Samsung!
