16. September 2011 by TechFren Staff 0 Comments

Lenovo’s IdeaPad Z570 is the medium budget laptop that is a lot similar to its competitors. In terms of looks, features and configuration Z570 takes no one by surprise. When it allegedly hasn’t got anything surprisingly new to offer, what makes it different from others? Let’s find it out in the following sections discussing its technical specifications, features, performance and drawbacks, if any.

Technical specifications

The IdeaPad Z570 laptop is powered by second generation Intel Core 2.1 GHz i3-2310M processor. It’s got 1333 MHz 4GB DDR3 SSDRAM that’s expandable up to 8 GB. The SATA HDD 5400rpm hard disk drive is 500 GB capacitated that comes with an option of 650 GB. This laptop runs on MS Windows 7 Home Premium OS. The chipset is Mobile Intel HM65 Express.

The processor has got features like integrated memory controller and hyper threading technology. There’s an integrated DVD writer, 5 in 1 card reader and xD Picture card, SD memory card, memory stick PRO, memory stick and multimedia card as its supported flash memory card types. The TFT active matrix display screen is 15.6 inches in size with maximum resolution of 1366x768 pixels.

The image aspect ratio is 16:9 and is glossy type. For the video Intel HD Graphics 3000 dynamic video memory technology has been given and high definition audio and SRS premium sound audio features have been given.

The webcam is 2 megapixel. For networking Ethernet, Wifi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 EDR have been given. Other features include security lock slot, hard drive password and administrator password. There is a 6 cell Lithium Ion battery given in the laptop. The laptop is EVERYGY STAR qualified and has got a Greenpeace policy rating of 3.5. Features and performance

The configuration of Ideapad Z570 is very common and the built of the laptop is based on Sandy Bridge architecture. It doesn’t fall in the category of the slim and light-weight laptops. The built quality of laptop is pretty good making it a sturdy and robust laptop. The touch sensitive buttons have an elegant look and the operation is simple and easy to understand. The power button gives a feel of a high end laptop. The activity indicators also look great.

The hard drive doesn’t work miraculously fast and is just satisfactory as compared to other laptops of its kind. When a 1080 pixel video runs it uses just 2-3 per cent of the CPU utilisation which is as good as using nothing. This is quite impressive.

The display of the laptop is vibrant and colour rendering is natural.

With a tough battery life test it faired just fine with 1.19 hours.

Drawbacks

Z570’s drawbacks include its screen’s poor viewing angles, slow writing speed of 31 MB/s and not a great battery life too.

Buy or Not ?

For a low budget laptop and usual daily usage, buying Lenovo IdeaPad Z570 seems a fair decision.
