Acer Aspire One netbook Review

12. November 2009 by TechFren Staff 0 Comments

Acer launched this subnotebook or netbook in July 2008. Since its launch, its colour selection, compact nature and low cost is impressing users and luring newbies.  Acer’s claim to be the new communication device did create buzzes initially and the credit for this goes to its ease or mobility and wireless experience.

Acer Aspire One is very sleek and potable with rounded edges and a glossy outer surface. The keypad and touch screen are designed keeping in mind the need of professionals as the keys are strong, rounded and better spaced. The best part of the keypad is the dedicated ‘page up’ and ‘page down’ buttons that help navigate easy and quickly through long documents.

The operating system on which Aspire One runs is Linpus Linux Lite or Genuine Windows XP Home Edition; these are comparatively faster operating systems and their benefit is seen in its reduced start up and shut down time. Its 10.1-inch screen and built-in web cam are important features. Its price is comparatively lower than its competitors and in fact, the cheapest possible with an Intel Atom processor.

Acer Aspire One although being pioneer of its king managed to make a cold response in the market because of its early launch and being ahead of its times. Its 3 hours battery is also not a tempting choice for office goers who need to work for long hours.  In addition, huge screen borders are a slight disadvantage. In addition, the bright colours and the reflective surfaces make viewing the screen a discomfort.  In addition, the sound quality is not great and volume is pretty low; thus, always be ready with your headphones if you are gaming or listening to some rocking, foot-tapping music.

The low price that you are paying for it justifies for its comparatively low features. Its dual card reader and Intel Atom processor is best features you can ask for in this amount so, if you don’t want to spend much and still have a laptop to carry wherever you go, Acer Aspire One is indeed the best deal.
